Our beginnings can be traced back to the early 1980’s when a group of concerned citizens in the Monroeville area decided that there was a definite need for a long term care facility in their community. Why did they fight so hard to get The Village of Heritage built? Like most families, they had at some point been involved in placing a loved one in a “nursing home”. This is never an easy decision. Many feelings, including guilt, creep into the picture. So, the big question is, how do you trust a facility full of “strangers” to meet the needs of your geriatric loved-one? The answer? Bring the healthcare provider into your hometown. By doing this, you eliminate many of the worries associated with placing a friend or family member in the capable hands of a long-term care facility.
An aspect of being close is the ability to make multiple short visits throughout the day. This makes stopping by a lot like when grandma or grandpa were still home and you stopped in to feed the cat, then later to bring the evening paper. Also by stopping in at different times throughout the day, families get to see how daily life truly is at the nursing facility. This goes a long way toward easing your fears of “what
happens when I’m not here?”
Also, with a long-term care facility near, there are jobs for all of the healthcare providers in the area. No longer will care professionals drive 30-40 miles to a job. What do these people bring with them? Hometown pride, caring, and work ethic.
The Village of Heritage truly is a cut above the rest. From our beautiful facility and
caring professional staff to our rural setting and short drive from Fort Wayne and the
surrounding communities, there is no better answer for compassionate, professional
care than The Village of Heritage. We invite you to stop in any time for a tour or to
just look around. We are confident you will like what you see!
